Although summer seems like the time for your skin to soak up all the moisture in the air and remain hydrated, it may just be doing the opposite-- especially if you’ve been spending a lot of time in the sun (I’m guilty!). So when it comes to protection, prevention, and all-around hydration, these ingredients have got you covered.
For soothing:
Spearmint Oil: Nothing feels more summer-like than drinking a cool, refreshing lemon-mint water. Or, maybe a mojito! But the refreshing, soothing properties of mint goes well beyond internal health. The spearmint herb began as an Ayurvedic medicine to soothe skin problems and headaches. The invigorating scent of spearmint works to balance and uplift your mood, which helps enhance focus and positivity. When applied topically, spearmint oil helps keep skin clear by use of its antibacterial properties. Its anti-inflammatory properties are responsible for soothing inflamed skin by reducing swelling, redness, and irritation. This ingredient can be found in our Soothing Face Mist Toner and our Body Exfoliant-- perfect for your summer skin/body care cocktail!
For retaining moisture
Coconut oil: An ingredient known to solve almost any skin concern, there is no better oil to hydrate with that coconut oil. To achieve baby-soft skin without feeling sticky or too oily this summer, we’ve formulated our Body Exfoliant with sugar and coffee, which are excellent compliments of coconut oil and shea butter. These grains work to smooth your skin’s texture and rub away all those dead skin cells. The oils work to replenish lost moisture in the process, thus locking in moisture and revealing new, smooth, and glowing skin underneath.
For brightening:
When your skin is dry, it may begin to look dull and patchy. And when exposed to pollution and UV rays, you may even see dark spots and hyperpigmentation on the skin. To help brighten your skin, fade these spots, and keep it looking lively and fresh, stay masking and exfoliating.
Clay: acting as both an exfoliator and a skin detoxifier, this ingredient helps to refine pores and slough away dead skin cells, thus revealing a brighter complexion. If you read our latest blog on the powers of clay, you know how much we swear by this ingredient. Our clay mask is made with a powerful blend of four clays, and nothing more. No chemicals, no filler ingredients-- just clay. Does it get more powerful than that?
Sandalwood: This time-tested Ayurvedic ingredient aids in soothing blemishes, brightening pigmentation and healing the skin. It is combined with vitamin C-rich, ultra brightening orange peel powder in our Brightening Cleansing Powder-- making it a dynamic exfoliating and brightening duo.
