The Glass Hair Trend You’ll Want to Try

We are seeing hair styles go from effortless, slept-in and slightly messy styles to now what has been deemed “glass hair.” Named after the popular Korean skincare trend of glass skin, glass hair embodies the high shine and sharp cut that is somewhat reflective of the qualities of glass. This style is smooth, sleek, and blunt, almost exactly the opposite of styles we’ve seen recently.
To achieve perfectly sleek and shiny hair, the obvious answer is to use hair masks. We love a good facial mask, but we equally love hair masks, or as I like to call them, “hasks.” During the summertime, your hair tends to lean more on the dry side due to increased sun exposure and heat, while our scalps tend to be oilier. Masks can be the great equalizer which help balance the overall condition of your hair and scalp. And while masking is about targeting specific hair and skin concerns, it is also a self care staple-- acting as a mean for us to unapologetically pamper ourselves for the sake of our health and wellness.
Oil masks tame frizz and flyaways while nourishing your locks for lustrous shine. After all, healthy hair is the perfect foundation for achieving glass hair. When treating your hair with oils, you may consider simply applying the product onto the tips of your hair to repair your damaged ends. But have you considered nourishing your scalp equally, since that’s where your new growth is coming in?
Pure oils ensure that your hair is getting exactly the care and nourishment it needs, directly from the oil. No need to worry about filler ingredients or weird chemicals that may be more damaging than repairing. Look for oils that will penetrate your skin to nourish your hair follicles and stimulate growth.
We Recommend:
Any of our body oils work excellently as a hair mask, due to the all star ingredient, sunflower oil. But one to especially look out for is our Lemongrass Mint Body Oil.
Lemongrass oil is antibacterial, which creates a conducive environment on your scalp for healthy hair growth. It is also known for strengthening your hair follicles to help prevent hair loss. Sunflower oil is extremely rich in antioxidants and nutrients that work with essential fatty acids to restore your hair to its natural, healthy state. Oil treatments restore and enliven your hair for shine, growth, and reparation.
  • Warm oil in hands and gently massage into your scalp, stimulating blood flow to the area.
  • Comb through hair from root to tip, ensuring that your hair is evenly coated in this rich oil
  • Let sit for 20-30 minutes. Take this moment of self care to relax and unwind. Read a book, meditate, or simply just chill out while your hair soaks up all the goodness of this treatment.
  • Thoroughly shampoo and rinse the oil out of your hair. It may take one or two washes-- but your hair is going to look and feel revived once complete.
If hair masks aren’t particularly your thing, consider simply running a drop or two of sunflower oil into your hair before or after styling to add some extra hydration and shine. Your hair will look lustrous and smooth. Regardless of how you utilize your sunflower oil hair treatment, your hair will be sure to thank you.
