No Time for Self Care? This May Change Your Mind

And in the blink of an eye, summer is nearing an end. And believe it or not, the part of summer that I'm going to miss the most is NOT the beach, the fresh fruit or even the glorious sunshine.  It's that everyone just accepts that during the summer we're going a bit slower and taking time off and taking better care of ourselves, not just physically but mentally. Its the only time of the year where we allow ourselves this more relaxed, forgiving pace. Although this hot weather is expected to stick around for another couple of weeks, and there are still mangoes on my kitchen counter, September in my eyes marks the beginning of fall. So grab your pumpkin spice latte, because it’s time to snap out of that sweet summer daze and gear up for the season ahead without leaving our self care rituals behind.

Fall marks the beginning of a bustling season. You may be prepping for fall semester at school, or perhaps a busy holiday season at work. But no matter what your upcoming schedule looks like, we are here to remind you to not to leave yourself behind in the process. Say goodbye to burn out and hello to a happy, wholesome you.
..
At its core, self care is really about addressing your basic human needs and ensuring that you are living a whole, happy, and confident life. Here are a few gentle reminders of things that you could be doing, even on a busy schedule, to keep on being your best you.
..
Get enough sleep
Okay, maybe I am being a bad college student here, but hear me out. I will ALWAYS choose a restful night before attempting an all nighter to get work done. In the handful of times I have sacrificed sleep for work, I have been completely scatterbrained, everything seems to go array, and my day ends up being a bust. If you can function on a night of little to no sleep, I admire you. But I would rather set aside 7-8 hours of sleep time, and wake up early and finish any remaining work I need to do. A sharp mind with a busy schedule is much more efficient than a sleepy, foggy mind on a busy schedule.

Give Your Skin Some Love
Stress tends to wreak havoc on your body, and especially your skin. When under stress, your body produces hormones like cortisol, which causes your glands to produce more oil. This chemical response in your body can also trigger increased sensitivity and reactivity on the skin. These symptoms can lead to increased skin ailments such as acne.
..
Thankfully, we have the power to avoid such problems by keeping our stress at bay, and caring for our skin. Never skip out on proper makeup removal-- we love the kbeauty double cleansing ritual, using our Cleansing Oil to remove makeup and our Lemon Rose Face Wash to further cleanse the skin and remove any excess dirt, oil, and pollutants. Multi-task by masking with a Detoxifying Clay Mask before bed while you are cooking dinner or doing work. Or perhaps use it as a wind-down ritual at the end of the day.
Eat a Wholesome Meal
Busy schedules come with a lot of adjustment, including your diet. It’s difficult to find the time to eat healthy, and let alone cook any meals for yourself. Meal prepping is a really simple way to ensure you have a meal prepared for whenever you need it, even on the go. If you happen to have a free day, or even a free couple of hours, cook up some food that will keep you energized and full. Store in some tupperware so you can easily grab it and go when needed.

The Little Things
..
Clarifying: Cleansing with sage encourages a clear, healing space for you to thrive. It is also known for enhancing your intuition. After a long day, I like to sage my living space to create a more peaceful, clear atmosphere.
..
Aromatherapy: A few drops of essential oils in a diffuser or on your pillow can go a long way. I love Lavender Oil because of its calming and soothing properties, it always makes me feel grounded and at peace. Scents evoke different feelings and emotions in different people, so choose the one that feels right for you.
..
Meditation: Meditation provides mental clarity, encourages mindfulness, and allows you to unapologetically take time for yourself. Find a quiet space to sit or lay down for 5-10 minutes to meditate and be in the present moment.
..
Seems like common sense, right? Once you are mindful of these things that we may take for granted, it becomes much easier to manifest into your everyday life. You’ll begin to feel more put together, less stressed, and more sharp-minded. This creates the perfect cocktail for happiness and wellness.
