If there’s anything the beauty industry has made amends on in the last decade- it’s been accepting that oils are indeed good for your skin. Our mothers or grandmothers always used and offered oils as beauty treatments, for our faces, our bodies and our hair, which growing up most of us turned up our noses to in favor of any product that had “oil-free”on it. We're so glad those dark times are behind us because as oil-devotees, we can attest to the fact that since we embraced oil in all its glory, our skin (and hair) has never looked or felt better.
..
Contrary to popular belief, this love-affair with oils doesn’t need to end or take a break simply because it’s summer. You just need to adjust the oils you’re using. If you’ve been using oil-based serums for awhile, you’ll understand when we say that the hydration and softness that pure oils afford your skin can’t be replicated with other ingredients. Oils penetrate the skin in the most natural way for supple skin with reinvigorated elasticity and bounce- don’t give that up for fear of hot, humid weather. The right serum, with the right essentials oils, as well as supporting refreshers like a toner with witch hazel will keep your skin plump and glowy without being slick or shiny.
..
Our favorite serum for summer-time is something we affectionately call the “greenjuice.” Our Rosemary and Clary Sage serum is naturally and vibrantly green in color but this isn’t why we call it green juice. We call it that because like the benefits of drinking green juice, over time it gives our skin that airy, brightened clarity that we get when we do healthy things like drink actual green juice. Its skin nutrition at its best and here’s how:
..
Squalane Oil: Mimicking your skin's own natural oils, pure olive squalane is one of the most gentle but effective things you can put on your skin. Squalane promotes oxygenation and cell regeneration for that airy quality its seems to give our pores we mentioned earlier.
..
Black Cumin Seed Oil: Antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties make it an excellent ingredient in your summer skin routine for minimizing oiliness without the use of harsher astringent ingredients. Black cumin seed also encourages cellular renewal and reduces hyperpigmentation so you can go bare-faced for that natural, beachy glow.
..
Evening Primrose Oil: Just like you want fresh in-season fruits in your green juice, you want seasonally appropriate oils for your face. Evening primrose is a small plant that produces dainty yellow flowers during the summer season and so its makes sense to us to incorporate it during the season of its bloom. This oil has strong antioxidant properties that help prevent free radical damage on the skin, which in turn helps prevent the formation of wrinkles and fine lines.
..
Think of the essential oils in this formula as the herbs or additives you might add to your juice to really amp up the nutrition and benefits. You might add collagen, chlorella or cilantro to your juice, we added Rosemary, Sage and Chamomile essentials to boost skin health. These three powerhouse oils have antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties to keep hot, summer skin calm and happy. Rosemary essential oil helps reverse ultraviolet damage and soothes sun-irritated skin. Sage Essential Oil regulates sebum production, tones the skin as mild astringent, and reduces inflammation associated with acne. It also has antibacterial properties so pores are nourished without heavy, congesting products.
..
Overall, our nutrient-rich, green juice serum promotes oxygenation and is super-powered to encourage cellular renewal, and heal and soothe irritated skin while regulating oil production. Your skin will drink these powerhouse oils and essentials right up!

This green juice may just be the little tweak in your skincare routine that you need to embrace the fiery season of summer.
