5 Things People With Perfect Skin Do Everyday

No matter how my skin looks, I will always be on the lookout for new and improved ways to treat my skin. I’ve gathered my most noteworthy tips on what exactly people with clear, glowing skin do to achieve such seemingly effortless radiance.

Don’t touch your face
Unfortunately, our hands carry a ton of bacteria, so even touching your face during the day can be a risky move. Bacteria can transfer from your hands to your skin, leading to a breakout. It’s important to not only avoid picking at your skin, but to avoid touching it altogether. It’s worth noting that our phones act similarly to our hands. They go everywhere with us-- we are carrying them, using them, and placing them on all sorts of surfaces. They’re essentially a breeding ground for bacteria. Avoid placing your phone to your face, and be sure to wipe it down with sanitizing wipes.

Sleep on a clean pillowcase
This is another step to be taken against unwanted bacteria on your skin. Your skin can pick up any unwanted pore-clogging substances such as hair product residue, oil, dead skin cells, or excess makeup that linger on your pillowcase. Ideally, wash your pillowcase once every 1-2 weeks, or simply have an extra on hand to switch out every week or so.

Never, ever sleep with makeup on
We’ve said it before, and we will say it again...do not sleep with your makeup on. Please, just don’t do it! Your skin needs time to regenerate and recover after a long day, and it does just that when you’re asleep. So keeping it clogged with makeup that was worn that night or even throughout the day is not doing your skin any good. Additionally, makeup prevents your skin from naturally shedding dead skin cells, which can further clog your pores. If you want glowing, bright skin, remove your makeup before bed, or ideally right when you get home.

Exfoliate
Exfoliating is a little tricky, because you don’t want to over exfoliate, which could lead to excess sebum production, but you also do not want to under exfoliate, which could lead to clogged pores. We recommend you exfoliate anywhere from 1-4 days a week. Our brightening cleansing powder is gentle enough for everyday use, as it cleanses and exfoliates. But you may opt to only use it 1-2 times per week, depending on how much your skin needs it. The general rule of thumb is to do whatever makes your skin feel smooth and supple, not dehydrated and stripped.

Whether it’s the oil that naturally occurs on your skin, or if it’s just a plain facial oil treatment, those with flawless skin embrace oil. Oils actually ward off fine lines and wrinkles because they keep your skin moist and smooth. Most of us get a little (or a lot) oily throughout the day, it’s no big deal! What is a big deal, however, is if you use heavy, dehydrating products onto your skin to keep your oil at bay. Your skin needs nourishment, and when you find that perfect balance-- hydrated, but not too hydrated-- your skin looks visibly healthier, more supple, and smooth.
